The Special Committee of Cultural Relics Restoration, China Antique Society, was founded on November 28, 1991. The committee mainly researches on the technology of restoration, including the restoration, maintenance, replication, and identification, of removable cultural relics of various materials. Based on the Chinese traditional restoration technology for cultural relics, the committee has been introducing modern science and technology from home and abroad, forming a framework of modern restoration technology. There is an annual symposium on cultural relic restoration and special academic survey and study, held by the committee, in order to promote the academic achievements in the field. The two journals, Newsletter of China Cultural Relics Restoration, and Cultural Relics Restoration Study, and other special publications of selected papers, are published every year. The committee also provides consulting services on antique restoration, maintenance, replication, copy and identification; international academic communication on cultural relics restoration; and professional training courses.
