  As a national art festival, Chinese Farmers Arts Festival receives great support from the central government and ministries. It is a national art festival especially for rural artists. It centers on carrying forward the Chinese civilization, depicting the new countryside, and describing the new life of modern farmers. The main purpose of the Festival is to build a platform for rural artists to depict rustic and stunning artworks and performance in various forms, such as artworks exhibition, rich and colorful performances, and workshops on agricultural cultural and fairs, and to meet the requirements of billions of peasants - the bulk of the Chinese population - and enriching their leisured life. The festival is an agriculture-oriented festival. All the artworks and performances are based on agriculture, the countryside and farmers. Moreover, the 1st Chinese Farmers Arts Festival was held on June 16, 2010. During the Chinese traditional festival – the Dragon Boat Festival, participants and visitors could clearly experience the festive atmosphere.

       Sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Culture, and the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, organized by CAM, the 1st Chinese Farmers Arts Festival (CFAF) started on June 16, 2010, at the China Agricultural Museum, and it closed on June 21, 2010. During the festival, rich and colorful artworks and fantastic performances by farmers were presented to the public; almost 50 farmers’troupes from 22 provinces have staged nearly 100 spectacular performances. The festival consists of seven parts: “one village one product”; the exhibitions and performance of intangible cultural heritage on agriculture; competitive rural paintings and folk paper-cuttings; photographic show of migrant workers in modern times; Chinese traditional arts and crafts exhibition; competitive artworks from Songzhuang artists' colony of Beijing; and Seminar on Preservation of International Agricultural Cultural Heritage.

       Through various art forms, including exhibitions, performances, workshops, and fairs, all exhibitions gave the public a chance to learn the different art forms by farmers, and presented colorful arts of new farmers in China. The valuable pictures of farmers, valuable paper cuts of farmers, photographs of new peasant-workers, Chinese traditional arts, and a forum of the protection of world cultural heritage of agriculture, earned wide attention and acclaim from state leaders, and visitors home or abroad, and achieved greater success than expected.
